(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes High School boys basketball team saw their five game winning streak snapped with a 61-58 loss to the Lions of Linton-HMB Tuesday night.
The fifth best team in the state had a 12 point lead after the third quarter, but the Tornadoes made a game of it in the latter minutes of the fourth. Matt Kuipers hit a three pointer as time expired, but it just wasn’t enough to take down the Lions, who improve to 8-1, and have yet to lose to a North Dakota team this season.
Oakes (5-4, 1-1 Class B District 5) had a team high 18 points from Ethan Zetocha. Cole Vanderlaan had a game high 22 points in the victory for Linton-HMB.
Next up for Oakes is another District 6 road trip; this time to South Border to take on the Mustangs on Tuesday January 19.
