(NewsDakota.com) – The Blue Jay boys hockey team won for the first time since December 2nd on Friday night with a 7-0 winner over Bottineau-Rugby at Wilson Arena.
Jamestown led after one period 2-0 thanks to a power play goal for Leopold Halko and an even strength goal from Nick Schaack. Halko, Schaack and Austin Rene struck for goals in the second period to bump the lead to 5-0.
Despite being a man down due to a five minute major penalty early in the third, the Jays tacked on a couple short handed goals from Braden Sherfy and Conner Grosgebauer to round out the scoring.
Jamestown outshot the Braves 46-21. Blue Jay goalies Matthew Schneider and Alex Schauer teamed up for the shut out. Schneider played the first two periods and kicked out 18 shots. Schauer came up with three saves in his 17 minutes of work.
The Jays improve to 2-5-1, with both wins coming over Bottineau-Rugby. The Braves fall to 3-6.
