N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – It has been reported that Southeast District Court Judge Thomas Merrick will not be seeking re-election this year, retiring at the end of his term this December.

A notice was sent to the North Dakota Supreme Court on December 31st, 2015 indicating Judge Merrick would not be running. In his notice, Merrick wrote that he was proud to have been a part of the judicial branch of the state government.

The North Dakota Supreme Court will now determine if Merrick’s judgeship in Southeast District Number 7 will remain in Jamestown. Merrick was appointed by then Governor John Hoeven in 2009 and was elected to the seat in 2012.
