(NewsDakota.com) When last they played on December 19, The Oakes High School girls basketball team earned a victory at home against a District 6 team. 

On Monday on the road, the Tornadoes started the game on a 12-0 run and picked up their second win in a row; also against a District 6 club with a 51-24 victory in Strasburg against the Strasburg/Zeeland Clippers.

Oakes outscored the Clippers 16-4 in the first eight minutes, with the hometown team scoring their first points almost five minutes into the game. Shelby Roney had a team high 18 points for the visiting Tornadoes, while Bella Hansen and Jordyn Seyer also scored in double figures. 

Oakes improves to 3-5, and will return to Class B District 5 play on Friday when they host Barnes County North. The Bison and Tornadoes will play a double-header with the girls first at 6, with the boys to play around 7:30.
