N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Ice fishing season is in full swing in the state and the North Dakota Game & Fish Department is reminding fishermen to clean up the ice.
According to the Department, not only is it unsightly, but it is illegal to leave fish behind on the ice. Fishing proclamation states that when a fish is caught by anglers, it must either be immediately released back into the water unharmed or taken into possession.
Game & Fish officials point out it’s common practice for anglers to fillet fish on the ice, but individuals must clean up fish entrails and dispose of them properly. The department also says trash should also be packed out.
