N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown City Council was back to work for the city after the holidays during their regularly scheduled monthly meeting on Monday, January 4th.
Several consent agenda items were approved including a resolution to re-affirm pledges of deposits to city banks. Council Member Dan Buchanan asked for two items to be removed from the consent agenda.
The first item focused on a payment of roughly $10,000 to the HDR Engineering, Inc. study for recycling in Jamestown. Buchanan pointed out that the group had submitted “findings”, but had no solid facts to back those findings up. Particularly the fact that Jamestown recycling was estimated to cost more than Fargo recycling.
City Administrator Jeff Fuchs stated that he had received the technical memorandums at the end of November of 2015 in regards to the study.
Council Member Steve Brubakken echoed his concerns along with Council Member Buchanan.
Administrator Fuchs stated he would reach out to the group to receive some final information on the conducted study. The motion to pass the payment of $10,248.57 passed on a 4 to 1 vote with Council Member Dan Buchanan voting in opposition.
The other item removed by Council Member Buchanan was a payment to be made to AE2S for engineering services on Jamestown Stormwater Utility Creation. Buchanan stated that the council had not seen any information or progress reports regarding what the city was paying for.
It was again determined that Administrator Fuchs would look into getting information to present to the council. The motion passed unanimously.
After the meeting when asked what the plan was for finding a new City Engineer, Mayor Katie Andersen stated that the council would be discussing that in full at their next committee meeting on January 19th.
