N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A very amazing Christmas for area Veterans in Lisbon as Soldiers and Airmen with the North Dakota National Guard shared gifts and a holiday meal with them.

Guardsmen demonstrated their appreciation to those whose military service preceded theirs. Major General Al Dohrmann and nearly 30 other Guardsmen shared a traditional meal and conversation with Veterans at the North Dakota Veterans Home in Lisbon.

“We’re always appreciative of the opportunity to connect with these true heroes every year,” said Dohrmann. “The holidays are an excellent time to express our gratitude, and we are extremely grateful for all that our veterans have done for this state and nation.”

After the meal, Guardsmen handed out 143 gifts, one for each Veteran. Annually, the state’s Army and Air National Guard alternate responsibilities in coordinating the event, which has taken place for more than 20 years.
