N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Two goals in a span of 16 seconds led Bismarck Century to a 5-2 win over Jamestown in West Region boys hockey Friday night in the capital city.

Austin Rene staked the Jays to an early lead as he struck for his fifth goal of the season just :31 into the game, but the Patriots rattled off three unanswered goals and never looked back. Rene added his sixth goal of the season in period two, but Jamestown would not find the back of the net the rest of the night.

Trailing 4-2 early in the third, the Jays had a great chance to slice into the deficit, but Jamestown came up empty on a seven minute power play.

Century out shot Jamestown 42-18. Blue Jay Sophomore Goalie Matthew Schneider made his first varsity start and finished with 37 saves.

Next up for Jamestown, 1-3-1, is a non-conference game with Fargo Davies Tuesday night at Wilson Arena. This will be the first ever meeting between these two schools on the ice. Face off is set for 7:30 pm with the broadcast on ESPN Jamestown, AM 1400 KQDJ.
