CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Valley City High School Concert Band members were excited to hear that they had been selected to be the Governor’s band of North Dakota; an honor that the school also had in 1980.
Instructor Tom Kjelland said to be selected is truly an honor. He said a number of things including GPA and how one conducts themselves in and out of the classroom played a key role in the selection process.
Concert band president Makaylah Ross, vice-president Tabatha Branam and band secretary Madisen Anderson said it was pretty special to be selected and look forward to playing at the Governor’s request in the future.
Kjelland said these students and others in the concert band provide great leadership and serve as positive role models for all the concert band students.
