N.D.  (NewsDakota.com)  The Cardinals scored 170 points to secure a second place finish at the Dan Unruh Memorial Invitational Wrestling Tournament held on the North Dakota State College of Science Campus last Friday and Saturday.  Frazee, Minnesota won the tourney with 261.5 points.  Rounding out the top five, West Fargo finished third, Lisbon fourth and Brookings, South Dakota in fifth.  19 teams competed from Minnesota, North and South Dakota.  It was the first time that Carrington competed in the Tourney.

The Cardinals crowned two champs, three runner-ups and placed 10 out of 13 weight classes.  Senior’s Walker Carr and Billy Holtan placed first at 152 and 160 respectively.  Carr is only four wins away from 200 career victories. 

Next up for Carrington will be this Friday and Saturday at the Al Larson Invitational in Carrington.  The dual schedule for Friday has Carrington against Napoleon at 5 p.m., followed by Napoleon against Pembina County North at 6pm and then Carrington will take on Pembina County North at 7pm.  

11 teams will compete in Saturday’s individual tourney starting at 10 a.m., including  Carrington, Harvey/Wells County, Bismarck JV, Bismarck Legacy, Rugby, Pembina County North, New Salem/Almont, Larimore, Napoleon, Beulah/Hazen and Minot High.  AM 1600 KDAK and newsdakota.com will have entire tourney coverage for Carrington starting on Friday about 4:45 p.m. and 10 a.m. on Saturday.
