(NewsDakota.com) – The newest addition to the WDA opened its doors Friday night to varsity basketball. The Legacy High Sabers welcomed in the Jamestown Blue Jays and were not kind hosts. The Sabers won both games; girls 69-64 and the boys 61-60.

In the girls game, the Jays had their depth tested early and often. Three starters did not finish the game, two fouled out and Meghan Orr left the game with a concussion. Jamestown scored 40 points in the first half, but without a few key players they couldn’t keep up the offense in the second.

Legacy got hot in the second half, lead by Brita Feland’s 25 points. Bailey Lamp lead Jamestown with 19 points.

Legacy’s Austin Wolf was the Achilles’ Heal of the Blue Jays in the boys game. Wolf poured in 30 points including the game winning shot with 14 seconds left. After Tanner Lunzman split a pair of free throws, Wolf beat the Jays to the baseline for a reverse lay-up to grab the lead.

Jamestown’s Josh Schulz got a look at three but missed to win the game.

Both teams return to action on Tuesday when the battle Bismarck High.
