N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—-The Carrington wrestling team improved to 2-0 in duals in the early 2015-16 season with a dominating 49-12 victory over the Burro’s of Hillsboro-Central Valley. The Cardinals received 3 forfeit victories at 120, 126, and 285, which ultimately was enough in itself to win the match. A total of 10 matches were wrestled and Carrington won 8 out of the 10 matches, the 182 weight class was a double forfeit. Carrington picked up pins at 170 (Kaden Wolsky) at 1:14 of the first period over John Pruneda. Tyrell Larson (220), won by fall at :16 seconds of the opening period over Seth Owens. The Cardinals also picked up victories at 195, Riley Lura won a major decision 16-4 over Jake Connelly, Tate Hoggarth won a 4-3 decision at 113 over Gavin Wright, Zach Broadwell picked up a major decision victory over Alex Alfson 14-5, and Brady Davis picked up a 6-5 decision over Hunter Hennings. Davis trailed 4-2 with just :17 seconds remaining in the match and outscored Hennings 4-1 in the final seconds to pick up his second victory of the year. The feature match of the night was at 160 pounds, Billy Holten of Carrington, state champ from 2015 defeated Luke Hastings (2014 state champ) 9-7 in overtime. Also picking up another win was Walker Carr, defeating Mark Hastings 7-3, Carr is the all-time career wins leader at Carrington with 192 victories and has 2 state titles (2013 and 2015). The Burros picked up wins at 106, Kyle Alfson won by fall at 1:22 of the first period over Trevor Hoggarth and Kevin Rodriquez won by fall at 145 over Beau Retzlaff in :22 seconds.
