Totten, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)–The Carrington Cardinals girl’s basketball team opened up the 2015-16 season with a decisive 66-32 victory over the Lady Indians of Four Winds High School. An overall team win for the Cardinals landing 4 girls in double figures in points led by senior Kauri Hochhalter’s game high 14. Maara Nelson finished with 13 points, Carmen Pederson 12 (off the bench), & Haley Hewitt with 11 aiding the victory. The Cardinals pressured the Lady Indians into 25 turnovers, 15 in the first half to help build a 37-15 lead at the break. The Cardinals also went to the free throw line 25 times, 23 in the first half making 16-25 for 64 percent on the night. Four Winds would make the trip to the line just twice, going 1 of 2. Four Winds committed 20 fouls, 15 in the first half, Carrington was whistled just 5 times the entire game. Hochhalter & Nelson led the Cards on the glass also with 8 rebounds each.
