N.D. (NewsDakota.com)–The Lamoure Loboes captured the schools first ever state championship in a girls sport with a 3-1 (28-26, 25-20, 23-25, 26-24) victory over the Langdon Area/Munich Cardinals. The Loboes capped off an impressive season with a 38-2-1 overall record and the Cardinals finished up with a 40-3-2 overall record. The Loboes not only won the state title but set 2 championship match records in the process. As a team the Loboes collected a record 150 digs and Anna Holen’s 31 kills were both class B state records for a championship match. Holen finished the tournament with 86 kills overall in 12 sets or 7.2 kills per set. Holen added 31 digs, 3 assists, 1 ace, and 1 block in the title match.

The Loboes also had some great support for Holen, teammate Kindra Hamlin added 15 kills, 2 assists, 1 block, a team high 2 aces, and 42 digs. Jackie Meiklejohn led the Loboes with 47 assists, added 3 kills, and 26 digs. Libero Kallene Klever added 18 digs and Alayna Jordahl picked up a pair of service aces along with 17 digs.

The Cardinals were paced Jocelyn Dinius’ 20 kills, 4 aces, 5 assists, 3 blocks, and 15 digs. Madison Hart added 18 kills, a match high 5 aces, 1 block, 2 assists, and 36 digs. Libero Sydney Ellingson had a super night with a match high 45 digs. Jordyn Worley added 9 kills, 2 aces, and 27 digs.

The rest of the state class B results has Hankinson defeat Our Redeemers 3-2 for third place, F-S-H-P defeated Hazen 3-2 for fifth place, and Shiloh Christian knocked off Ray 3-1 for seventh place. Tera Paulson of Hankinson the class B coach of the year award and Betsy Asp also from Hankinson was the senior athlete of the year winner.
