CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The driver of a pickup truck that rolled over in January killing a passenger has been sentenced to one year in prison.
KOVC-AM Radio reports that Christopher Weller, of Dazey, will begin serving his sentence on December 1st. Weller earlier pleaded guilty to one count of negligent homicide.
Weller was driving the pickup on Highway 26 when it went into a ditch, vaulted off an intersecting county road, rolled, and came to rest upside down. The 33-year-old Brent Siverson of Casselton was thrown from the pickup and died at the scene.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol has said alcohol was a factor in the crash and neither man was wearing a seat belt.
