N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol has reported a crash that occurred at around 3:30 AM near Ashley, N.D. involving a semi truck carrying cattle.
Sgt. Tom Herzig reports that 29 year-old Matthew Anderson was traveling eastbound on Highway 11 at around 65 mph when he reached to pick up a soda bottle and drifted off the roadway. The load of cattle caused the truck to shift and rolled the trailer and truck onto its side into the ditch, killing 21 of 90 cattle in the trailer.
A veterinarian and a representative from the North Dakota Stockmen’s Association responded to assist with the cattle. Damage is estimated to be around $45,000.
