N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Kiwanis Club is still seeking volunteers for their fifth annual Kids Against Hunger Event in Jamestown to be held this Saturday.

The Jamestown Club will be working with the Aberdeen Brand of Kids Against Hunger to package meals at Stutsman Harley Davidson. More than 400 volunteers are needed to help package meals.

The group announced late last month that due to a generous donation from an anonymous donor, the group was able to reach their $50,000 goal. The hope for the group is to package over 200,000 meals to send all over the world.

There will be two shifts during the November 14th event. The groups will package meals with vegetables, vitamins, rice and soy to starving children in the U.S. and over seas. Meals are distributed by the Great Plains Food Bank.

Jamestown raised $23,000 for its first Kids Against Hunger event in April 2011, packaging 100,000 meals. It again raised $25,000 in October 2011, matching a $25,000 gift from the anonymous donor. With the help of multiple anonymous donors, Kiwanis raised $30,000 in 2013 and $40,000 in 2014.
