CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) David Swenson has worked for the Valley City police department for nearly 18 years. On Monday, November 9th he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant following a lengthy day long interview process on October 14th.

Vice-Mayor Matt Pedersen administered the oath of office to Swenson during a regular city commission meeting.

Swenson said he’s proud to be a member of the Valley City police department. He said he works with a great group of police officers who respect him as much as he respects them and that’s why we all work together as a great team.

The Moorhead, Minnesota native also worked as a reserve deputy for the Cass County Sheriff’s Office before starting his police career in Valley City on February, 2 1998.

Swenson served under former police chiefs Jack Ladbury and Dean Ross. He now serves under the direction of current Police Chief Fred Thompson.
