FORKS, N.D. (AP) – The University of North Dakota says it’s firing a police officer suspected of possessing child pornography. The 42-year-old officer was arrested Tuesday night, after being investigated by the state crime bureau.

KFGO Radio reports that officer Paul Meagher had been on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.

UND says it’s firing the officer for violations of university and police department policy and violations of law enforcement ethics. He had been working in the department since 2004.
