CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Barnes County is discussing the idea of purchasing a drone to help local law enforcement investigations. Commissioner Rodger Berntson asked if it could be used to locate suspect in a cornfield referring to an escapee who hid in a field until it was harvested to flush out the escapee.

Sheriff Randy McClaflin said yes it would be used for that and other investigations too.

Barnes County Commissioner Bill Carlblom said the drone could also be used to check those hard to see areas referring to alleyways to hence the safety of law enforcement officers.

The idea is in the discussion stage. One proposal would be to purchase a drone for under one thousand dollars for law enforcement use in Barnes County.
