N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The North Dakota Department of Transportation has announced added patrols in the state this month to improve the use of seat belts.
According to the NDDOT, failure to use seat belts while driving has become a major factor in motor vehicle crash deaths in the state. 70 percent of vehicle occupants who died were not restrained.
“The bottom line is that seat belts save lives,” said Lt. Justin Blinsky of the Jamestown Police Department. “If these enforcement crackdowns get people’s attention, and get them to buckle up, then we’ve done our job,” Blinsky added.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol, along with Dickey, Eddy, Foster, Griggs, Logan, and Stutsman County Sheriffs’ Departments and Jamestown, Napoleon, Oakes, and Valley City Police Departments will be participating in this increased enforcement throughout November.
