S.D. – The 2015 North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Volleyball Conference Postseason Tournament pairings has been announced by the conference office Sunday. The tournament will begin with two Division brackets – the North Division and the South Division brackets, competing for four spots in the NSAA’s Final Four.
The tournament’s opening round matches are based on division records with the higher seed host on Saturday Nov. 7 (there is a play-in round on Wednesday night in the North Division). The NSAA Volleyball Final Four on Nov. 13-14, which the location will be announced Monday, will match-up with the top seed from the North facing the lower seed from the South Division. The lower seed from the North Division will play the higher seed from the South Division in the other semifinal.
The NSAA Volleyball Postseason Tournament championship match is set for Nov. 14. The winner will earn an automatic bid to the NAIA Volleyball National Tournament with the opening round at campus sites on Nov. 21 and national tournament’s final site in Sioux City, Iowa on Dec. 1-5.
The North Division is grouped with Dickinson State (N.D.), Jamestown (N.D.), Mayville State (N.D.), Presentation (S.D.) and Valley City State (N.D.). Bellevue (Neb.), Dakota State (S.D.), Viterbo (Wis.) and Waldorf (Iowa) are grouped in the South Division.
In the final division standings in the North Division, Jamestown is the No. 1 seed with an 8-0 record, followed by Presentation (S.D.) No. 2 seed (4-4 North Division record). Dickinson State (N.D.) and Mayville State (N.D.) are tied for third with 3-5 record as the Blue Hawks own the tiebreaker over the Comets. Valley City State (N.D.) is fifth with 2-6 record.
North’s No. 4 seed Mayville State and No. 5 seed Valley City State will kick off the postseason tournament with a play-in match on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. in Mayville, N.D. The winner moves on to face the North’s top seed Jamestown on Saturday, Nov. 7 for a spot in the NSAA’s semifinals.
No. 2 seed Presentation hosts No. 3 seed Dickinson State in the other North Division’s match-up on Saturday for a spot in the NSAA’s Final Four at 7 p.m.
In the South Division, Viterbo is the top seed with a 3-0 record and will host No. 4 seed Waldorf (0-3 record) on Saturday at 7 p.m. No. 2 seed Dakota State is scheduled to host Bellevue in Madison, S.D. at 3 p.m. on Saturday. The two South Division winners will move on to the NSAA’s Final Four on Nov. 13-14.
