FALLS, S.D. (NewsDakota.com) A story about police officer misconduct will be released. In a yearlong investigation by the Associated Press the story reveals that 1,000 police officers lost their licenses for sexual assault or misconduct that ranged from propositioning citizens to consensual but prohibited on-duty sexual intercourse over a six-year period.

In the series, one police chief said sex-related misconduct is so prevalent “it’s happening probably in every law enforcement agency across the country,” he said “people are scared that if they call and complain about a police officer, they think every other police officer is going to get them.”

The Associated Press will release this three part story called Betrayed by the Badge on Sunday, November 1st.
