N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Residents are being reminded that when they turn the clocks back one hour this weekend for Daylight Saving Time, they should also consider checking their smoke alarms as well.

“It’s important for everyone to make sure their household is ready,” said Regional Communications Officer, Brian Shawn. “A disaster like a home fire can happen anywhere, at any time. We urge people to take these steps now and know what they should do if an emergency occurs.”

Shawn is reminding residents to check batteries, install smoke alarms, practice an escape plan, get a kit, and be informed. Daylight Saving Time will be this November 1st, so set your clocks back one hour before you go to bed on October 31st.
