(NewsDakota.com) After receiving a first round bye last weekend, the Cardinals will welcome the Polar Bears of Larimore to Stadium 76 this Saturday for a Quarterfinal playoff game in North Dakota Class A High School Football. The Polar Bears beat Oakes last Saturday 46-6 in the first round of the playoffs to advance to the quarters. Larimore finished second in Region 2 and enters Saturdays game with an 8-1 record, their only loss was a 44-8 loss to No. 1 Park River/Fordville-Lankin back in mid-September. Carrington and Larimore met last year in the quarterfinal, the Polar Bears won 17-6 in Larimore.
Carrington is a perfect 8-0 this year and looking to advance to a semifinal game for the first time since 2011. That year in AA, the Cardinals beat Dickinson Trinity on the road in the quarters and lost at Devils Lake in the semifinal. The last time Carrington hosted a quarterfinal was 2003 when they beat Hazen in a AA playoff game and then went on to the semifinals but would lose to Dickinson Trinity at Trinity. The Cardinals offense this year has been averaging almost 60 points per game and have beat their opponents by a combined 53 touchdowns. This year will mark the fifth year in a row that the Cardinals have made the playoffs.
