(NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown High’s football season didn’t go as planned as they finished the season with a record of 2-7, but they did bookend the season with wins as they defeated Legacy 24-22 on Saturday night.

The Jays jumped out to a 24-9 lead at half and had to hold on for dear life as the Sabers made a game of it. Jamestown went ahead 14-0 on a three-yard run by QB Andrew Hornung and a long run by Ben Hanson.

After halftime, the Sabers scored two unanswered touchdowns before missing on a two-point attempt to tie the game. Legacy got one more chance, but the final throw to the end zone was knocked down to preserve the Jamestown victory.

The Jays will graduate 19 seniors many of which have been starters for more than one year.
