Graveside Memorial Service for Rick Simmons will be Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 2p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, Sanborn, ND.  He died on October 14th, 2015 at his home in Valley City after a long illness.

Richard Lynn Simmons was born May 2, 1962 in Long Beach, Calif., the son of the late Bobby Ray and Vallie Delphine (Komrosky) Simmons.  He was the fifth of 7 siblings.  He was known as Robby for many years.  He attended school in St. Francis, MN until 1978 and then in Phoenix, AZ.  He graduated from Rio Salado Technical College, Tempe, AZ in 1987.  He studied Sign Language and Small Business Management.

He moved to ND in 1992.  He was employed by Tower Truck Stop in Tower City, ND as a service attendant for four years.   He started construction work while living in Fargo and Oriska, ND, employed by Dietz Construction.  He moved to Valley City four years ago where he was employed by Valley Meat until his illness.  He loved fishing, movies, spending time with friends and family and anything mechanical which he learned from his father at a young age.  He was adventurous and a good-hearted man willing to give anything he had to help others.

He is survived by his two brothers, Harry and Kenny Simmons, both of Valley City, ND, and one sister Jackie (Adrian) Steinbrecher of CO;  special friend and caregiver Tammy Ulmer of Valley City, ND, several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and friends.

Rick was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jeff Lloyd and Bonnie (Moore) Simmons and Harry Thurlow and Florence Viola (Hoover) Komrosky; brothers, Robert Daniel and Ronald Dean; and a sister, Rebecca Louise.

There will be a gathering following the burial at Tower City Hall at 3 p.m. in Tower City, ND.
