S.D. – Dacotah Bank and North Star Athletic Association are proud to announce the eighth edition of the Football Players-of-the-Week Monday. Robert Johnson of Dakota State (S.D.) was selected as Offensive Player-of-theWeek, while his teammate Ben Kullos was named to Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Lucas Norblom of Valley City State (N.D.) was chosen as Special Teams Player-of-the-Week.
Dacotah Bank/NSAA Football Offensive Player of the Week Robert Johnson – Dakota State (S.D.) – 5’11” – 195 lbs., Junior – running back – East Palo Alto, Calif. – Johnson ran for season-highs 27 rushes for 210 yards with a touchdown in helping Dakota State (S.D.) defeat No. 24 Dickinson State (N.D.) in the Dacotah Bank/NSAA Football Game-of-the-Week. He had five rushing plays for at least 10 yards gain, including a game-long 44 rushing yard play.
Dacotah Bank/NSAA Football Defensive Player of the Week Ben Kullos – Dakota State (S.D.) – 5’9” – 210 lbs., Senior – linebacker – Peoria, Ariz. – Kullos continues to have a stellar defense season for Dakota State (S.D.) as he exploded for a total of 20 tackles – 10 solo tackles and 10 assist tackles – in 54-21 upset victory over No. 24th-ranked Dickinson State (N.D.). It was his fourth time this season that he had recorded at least 20 tackles in a game. Kullos broke the single-season record for most tackles in the third quarter, accumulating a total of 136 tackles this season. He also had three tackles-for-loss of six yards and an interception for the Trojans.
Dacotah Bank/NSAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week Lucas Norblom – Valley City State (N.D.) – 6’0” – 150 lbs., Freshman – kicker – La Quinta, Calif. – Norblom had a perfect day kicking as Valley City State (N.D.) recorded a 24-14 Dacotah Bank/NSAA Football conference road victory at Presentation (S.D.). He went 3-for-3 on PAT extra-point kicks and made his only field goal attempt, a 34-yarder in the third quarter. Norblom averaged 60 yards per kickoff and had one touchback, averaging PC’s starting position at its own 22-yard line from his five kickoffs.
