ND (NewsDakota.com) -The University of Jamestown football team has not lost to Mayville State since 2000, but entering play on Saturday the teams had opposite records with the Comets holding a 5-1 mark. The Jimmies defense forced five turnovers and won their second game of the year by a score of 17-7.

MSU won the toss and took the football to open the game, but their gadget play was intercepted by Keith Rogers on the game’s first play. Rogers leads the team with four interceptions. The Jimmies marched down on their opening drive following the pick and Beau Eriksson tossed his 50th career touchdown to Mike Sena on 4th-and-10 from the Comet 30.

After Mayville tied on the game at seven, the Jimmies got a second quarter touchdown connection from Eriksson to Sena. That scoring pass tied Eriksson with Josh Otteson for the most touchdown passes in school history.

Jamestown added a third quarter field goal from Grant Linde and held off the Comets the rest of way. Every time Mayville got something going they had a costly turnover. They turned it over three times inside Jimmie territory.

The Jimmies (2-5) are on the road at VCSU on Saturday.
