ND  (NewsDakota.com)  Another busy weekend for the Carrington Cardinals sports teams over the weekend, here are the results:

FOOTBALL:  CARRINGTON 55  ELLENDALE/EDGELEY/KULM 7

In the first Class A Region 1 match up for both teams, Walker Carr  of Carrington rushes for four first half touchdowns as the Cardinals defeat EEK 55-7 last Friday night at Stadium 76 in Carrington.  No. 2 Carrington is now 1-0 and 4-0 overall, EEK drops to 0-1 and 1-3 overall.  Carrington had a total of 437 yards of offense.  

Next up for Carrington will be the homecoming game on Friday night against Northern Cass, pregame about 6:35pm on AM 1600 KDAK and newsdakota.com

VOLLEYBALL – 24 TEAM VALLEY CITY OPTIMIST TOURNEY, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19TH:

Carrington goes 3-0 in pool play, defeating Central Cass, Rolette-Wolford and South Border all two sets to nothing.  The Cardinals advanced to the championship bracket, but would drop to Oakes 2-0.  LaMoure beat Oakes in the championship in two sets.  The Cards are now 12-2 overall and will travel to LaMoure on Tuesday night for a District 5 match, coverage will start about 6:45pm on AM 1600 KDAK and newsdakota.com.

CROSS COUNTRY:  GIRLS – 6TH, BOYS – 11TH

The Cross Country team was in action at Valley City as well on Saturday, Carrington had three top 20 individuals.  On the girls side, Amanda Jarrett finished in 10th place with 15:47, and Ashley Neumiller finished in 17th place with 16:33.  For the boys, Payton Smith finished sixth with 17:18.  Next up for cross country will be on Thursday at Casselton.
