Thoughts:
We mixed up the doubles. Hunter and Brandon played a great match together at #1 doubles. With our top 2 graduating, Hunter will need to step into that number one doubles spot next year. He showed today that he is up for the challenge.
At two doubles, Dempsey and Riley played very well together. They both have improved dramatically in their volley game and movement. They may play together again come tournament time, so this was excellent for them. Riley followed that match up with a very close singles match. Riley is a very good thinker on the court and has a great attitude that soaks up coaching.
Liam played his first varsity doubles match today along with his singles. He has not been tested this year by playing multiple matches, but he handled it nicely and also accepts coaching even when down big in the second set. If we are going to make noise in the coming week and a half, Liam will have a part in it!
Collin was doubled up today with singles and doubles as he may have a part in the doubles in a 3-2 line-up. He moved better in doubles than he ever has. Hopefully this will pay off next week! Evan got in the mix as well at #6 singles for a varsity match. His strokes are still very good and he is starting to move his opponent around which leads to winning points. Keep it up!
Next action is Thursday at 4pm at home against Fargo South. Please come out as the VCTA is putting on a hotdog feed at5:30pm with fruit, veggies, bars, and lemonade!
