CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) Abused Persons Outreach Center known as (APOC) has been providing crisis intervention, emergency shelter, advocacy, and counseling to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault since 1985.  The center relies heavily on local donations to provide services to victims as they work to build a life free from fear and violence.

You can support APOC by attending the Annual Fall Fundraiser and Silent Auction on Friday, September 11th at the VFW Club. Roast beef or chicken breast dinner along with ice cream from MidWest Dairy Association will be served from 4:30 to 7:30pm. A Silent Auction will be held from 4:30 to 6:30pm.  Tickets are $9 for adults, $5 children, and are available by calling APOC at 701-845-0078 or at the door the night of the event.

If you would like to honor local fireman and emergency services personal, in recognition of September 11, contact APOC 845-0078 to purchase supper tickets to donate to our local heroes.  This event is sponsored by VFW and Gaming Funds.

Remember domestic violence and sexual assault continue to be an issue nationwide and at the local level.  Last year, there were 5,181 incidents of domestic violence reported to crisis centers and 913 victims of sexual assault served by crisis centers in North Dakota.

Coping with its effects can be overwhelming because control over the situation has been taken away by the abuser. Reaching out for help is often the first step toward healing.
