N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – In April 2016, it will be 400 years since the birth of William Shakespeare. The University of Jamestown has scheduled events year-round to help commemorate the legendary writer.
The UJ Convocation Committee has teamed up with students, faculty and staff in order to integrate Shakespeare-based themes throughout the year. Library Director Phyllis Bratton stated that each planned event will be a way to celebrate the life of Shakespeare.
Bratton pointed out that the events start this week on September 10th with Tim Mooney’s “Breakneck Hamlet”, which will be open to the public.
On October 22nd, Dr. Robert Badal will be presenting “Famous Actors, Performers, and Productions of the 19th Century” and on November 5th, 6th, and 7th, The University Theater Department will be putting on the musical production of “Kiss Me Kate”, which is based of Shakespeare’s “Taming of the Shrew”.
