(NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown was trying to go to 2-0 for the second straight season, but Sheyenne had other ideas. The Mustangs used the ground game lead by their senior QB Josh Roerhich to thrash the Jays 32-14 on Friday night.
Jamestown scored the first touchdown of the game on the opening drive when Ben Hanson caught the first of two scoring passes. Sheyenne responded immediately when Josh Roerhich took off and raced 65-yards with the first snap.
The Mustangs built their lead to 20-7 just before the half. Jamestown went with Brian Opsahl at quarterback and he lead the Jays down to a second score just before the half, connection with Hanson for 28-yards.
Any momentum Jamestown had into the half ended when Sheyenne added two quick scores in the third quarter and the game was pretty much over from there.
Jamestown will head to Minot to battle the state runners-up on Friday night.
