Thoughts:
We played around with the line-up for today’s match and it paid dividends.  We bumped up Zach into #3 doubles and he made the most of it.  He played smart and consistent while being aggressive at the net.  This was Zach’s first win at the varsity level and he earned it.  He will be keeping that spot for Thursday’s match.  With Zach moving to doubles with Dempsey, this gave Collin the opportunity to focus just on singles.  Collin improved right before our eyes on the court, learning which decisions to make on the court.  He also dominated only dropping two games.

Liam also got an opportunity to play varsity today.  He has been impressing us in practice, but his consistency and decision making wavers.  That did NOT happen today.  He played patiently aggressive, moved the ball around, and played smart tennis. He won 6-0, 6-0.  This might be the first 6-0, 6-0 by a hi-liner in 10 years and he accomplished it in his first varsity match ever!  It might have taken 10 years for the first double bagel, but it only took 10 minutes for the 2nd.  Riley Miller pulled off the feat in his singles match as well.

Dalton gets a win at #1 singles, the first for him this season.  He did over think this match and got down on himself for missing some ground strokes and volleys which lead to losing a few games.  He was in the zone against North Knewtson from Sheyenne because he didn’t have time to think.  If Dalton can relax and quiet his mind, he is one of the best players in the EDC.

Brandon, Hunter, and Riley all played Hi-Liner tennis today.  They were patiently aggressive and took over the net in both doubles and singles.  All three had moments where they went for too much too quick or got a little frustrated, but all three were able to regroup and refocus and play Hi-Level tennis.  Shot selection, footwork, and putting away points were on display by all three.

We worked doubles hard yesterday at practice – being aggressive and movement.  All 3 doubles teams took it to heart and played the best doubles of the year!  Great job, gentlemen!

Next action is Thursday at home.  It will be the 1-3 Hi-Liners against the 0-4 West Fargo Packers.
