N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Public Schools will be having a public vote on September 29th to either approve or disapprove a million bond referendum that would set in motion several projects in the district.

Numerous changes would take place should the vote pass. According to Superintendent Robert Lech, there will be two phases to the project. In the first phase, Washington Elementary would be decommissioned and the capacity of Louis L’Amour would be increased from 125 students to 360. Additionally, Roosevelt, Gussner, and Lincoln would receive $1 million renovation budget along with the Jamestown Middle School. Lech pointed out that growth has been predicted for the district, despite the CHS decision.

A big question that has been posed to the school district is what will the affect be on property taxes. Superintendent Lech stated that it would be an increase of $16.70 per year on a home valued at $100,000.

A public forum will be September 17th for residents to learn more about the proposed vote. Early voting will take place September 15th through September 28th at the Stutsman County Courthouse.
