CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) Residents are questioning the quality of work over recently completed paving improvement project on North Central Avenue in Valley City.
The milling & asphalt overlay project in three Valley City Cul De Sacs included sidewalk and curb & gutter improvements.
Several residents brought their concerns to the city during an August 18 meeting. They told city officials and KLJ engineering the overlay project has several defects concerning the asphalt surface in many areas, elevation and drainage issues and damage to curbs and gutters.
KLJ engineer Chad Petersen said the purpose of the project is to improve and prolong the life of the pavement on Central Avenue North from 14th Street Northwest south including Courts A, B & C.
Peterson said KLJ and the contractors for the project are currently reviewing areas that are not in conformance with the contract documents and recently met to discuss corrective actions. He said we continue to work with the contractor and Valley City to ensure these areas are corrected and provide residents with a safe, cost effective project that will extend the life of the roadway.
Petersen said KLJ plans to meet with the City again to keep the project moving in the right direction.
