CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) The Valley City commission approved of moving forward to purchasing a software program known as OpenGov.com to keep track of expenses in nearly every city department.

Valley City Commissioner Madeline Luke said the company provides a software program that posts city expenses online. She said right now 270 local governments in 27 states use OpenGov.com.

The program will be available online this week according to Commissioner Luke.  The city commission unanimously approved of purchasing and implementing the software program earlier this month.

The cost of OpenGov.com is $9,000 annually for the first two years. But City Auditor Avis Richter said the city commission has the option of renewing or dropping the program annually or with a 30 day notice.
