Lynn Scherr, M.D., 46 was born on May 10, 1969 in Valley City, ND to Pius and Delphine (Klose) Scherr. He was killed in a motorcycle accident near his home in Ft. Myers, FL on August 7, 2015.
Daron was baptized and confirmed at St. Catherine’s Church in Valley City. He graduated from Valley City High School in 1987. Daron obtained his B.S. in Biotechnology from NDSU in 1991. He graduated from the University of Alabama in Birmingham Medical School with his M.D. in 1995. While attending medical school, he met and married Susan Waller on July 4, 1993.
Daron and Susan made their home in Falmouth, Maine where Daron completed his residency and Internship in Internal Medicine at nearby Maine Medical Hospital in Portland. They moved to Idaho Falls, ID where Daron became board certified in Internal Medicine and began his practice of medicine. He later became board certified in Sleep Medicine from Stanford’s School of Sleep Medicine in Palo Alto, California and Southwest Cleveland Sleep Center, Cleveland, Ohio. Daron ran the Sleep Institute in Idaho Falls and the Health and Wellness Center in Pocatello. He was a Diplomat of the American Board of Sleep Medicine, the American Board of Internal Medicine, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Daron was beloved by both his patients and staff. He was a talented physician and natural teacher who truly believed in educating patients so that they could be their own best advocate.
To adequately put Daron’s life into words would be next to impossible. He had a “larger than life” personality and his energy and presence would fill any room he entered. Daron loved adventure; nothing was ever too high, too fast, or too deep for him to pursue. He was a private pilot, sailor, spelunker, scuba diver, skydiver, climber, snow skier, snowboarder, camper, avid cyclist, and runner.
Daron had a passion for living and lived his life to the fullest every moment of every day. He fiercely loved his family, nuclear and extended. He gave of himself to anyone who needed his help or guidance. His sense of humor was exceptional and his smile and laughter contagious. Daron did everything with gusto: he gave amazing bear hugs, whisker rubs, and was known for his playfulness, youthfulness, and fun-loving spirit. He couldn’t toss his sons, nieces or nephews high enough or be out played. Daron celebrated life with ferocity, fearlessness, and most of all, with loving generosity.
Daron was inquisitive yet matter of fact. He did not sugarcoat his opinions but had a direct and purposeful manner of communicating and explaining things to others. Daron was full of intense, boundless energy. He was talkative and yet was a good listener and was accepting of others. He would spend countless hours exploring the world with his wife and sons. He wanted to share in their interests, hopes, and dreams. He reveled in their successes and accomplishments as well as accompanied them in their losses and disappointments. Daron was fully engaged in life’s journey.
Daron’s loving spirit lives on in his wife, Susan; his sons Jacob, 16, and Berringer, 14; his parents, Pius and Delphine Scherr of Valley City, ND; his brothers, Neil and his wife Ann of Nelson, MN and Lonney and his wife Jodie of Valley City, ND; his nieces and nephews: Garret Scherr, Valley City, ND, Hunter, Allison, and Lauren Scherr, Nelson, MN, Beau (Jess) Noeske, Las Vegas, NV, Mattie Cruff, Michaela, Grace, and Gabriel (“Buddy”) Scherr, Valley City, ND, and Brianna Waller, Birmingham, AL; and Susan’s parents, Richard and Jan Waller, Huntsville, AL and Sue O’Conner of Idaho Falls, Idaho.
