(NewsDakota.com) A spokeswoman for the North Dakota Army National Guard has confirmed there are no current plans to close any armory in the state, including the armory in Oakes; which was a subject of discussion during the City’s most recent Council meeting.
Public Information Officer Captain Amber Balken says even though there are no closings scheduled, the “Army as a whole, is downsizing” and added that the Guard would “work closely with any community that is impacted by force structure changes to ensure a seamless transition.”
At the August meeting of the Oakes City Council earlier this week, the Council received an “unofficial report” that the Guard was to leave the the Armory in November of 2016.
