N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Earlier today, it was announced that CHS would not be moving forward with the Billion Fertilizer Project in Spiritwood.

According to the Jamestown/Stutsman Develoment Corporation, CHS thanked them, the city and the county for their assistance, but decided that the return on investment was not substantial enough to move forward with the Spiritwood Project. Executive Director Connie Ova stated that they were surprised by the decision to cancel the project.

She stated that even though the project would no longer be moving forward, growth is still coming to Jamestown.

CHS will not be building the plant elsewhere, but rather have donated roughly $2.8 Billion to CF Industries Nitrogen LLC out of Chicago. The money will give CHS access to fertilizer at CF’s four plants.

Ingstad Family Media Reporter Steve Urness visited with CHS spokeswoman Lani Jordan and talked about the companies decision to withdraw from the proposed project.
