(NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown has named Danny Neville their new head men’s basketball coach.  Alan Magnani stepped down as the Jimmies head man after just one season.

Magnani will be returning to Mount Pleasant, IA for a teaching job where his family lived throughout his stay in Jamestown. His son Trey, who joined him in Jamestown at the semester break, will stay in town.

Neville just finished his third season as an assistant for the Jimmies and will be taking over as a head coach for the first time in his coaching career. He interviewed for the job last summer following Justin Wieck’s move to Minnesota State-Moorhead. He also spent time as an assistant at Presentation College.

In Magnani’s one season at UJ, the Jimmies finished 20-7 and were the first team left out of the national tournament following a heartbreaking 66-65 loss to Dakota State in the NSAA Championship Game.

The Jimmies return most of their roster from 2014-15 with the exception of one-year big man Cedric Smith and four-year contributor Taylor Newton.

Brequan Tucker was named a second-team All-American as a junior and will return to continue his assault on the Jamestown record books. Jake Hagler will be his third year as the starting point guard.
