CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) The Barnes County Rural Fire Department is looking at replacing an aging Rescue truck.

Fire Chief Gary Retterath told the Barnes County Commission that heavy traffic on Interstate 94 during the oil boom has taken a toll on the vehicle.

Barnes Commissioner’s Rodger Berntson and John Froehlich believe some state funding should be used to help pay for a newer rescue vehicle.

Retterath said the department has been unsuccessful pursuing grant money to replace the vehicle. He said it may take a combination of state and local funding to purchase a good used truck.

Retterath addressed the issue during a Barnes County Commission meeting on August 4. He said it would be nice to get a newer Fire & Rescue truck within the next two years.
