(NewsDakota.com) – Last year, Carrington was forced to play Class A champion Wahpeton for a spot in the Central Plains Division II Regional Tournament and were beaten soundly. This year the tournament has expanded and the North Dakota Class B state champions are guaranteed a spot in Le Sueur, Minnesota beginning Thursday.
The tournament expanded from eight teams with only one spot for North Dakota teams to 12 with two spots for both champions. Each team is guaranteed two games in pool play and the top-two from each pool will reach a single-elimination tournament, which begins Friday afternoon.
Carrington will play Wisconsin AA champion, River Falls, at 11am on Thursday and then following the opening ceremony will battle with the host Le Sueur in the final game of Day 1.
River Falls and Le Sueur will play Friday morning to finish off Pool C play. The two teams from Pool C that move on will play at either 1:45pm or 2:00pm.
