(NewsDakota.com) After the fourth day of the 2015 North Dakota State Class B American Legion Baseball Tournament, just three teams have a shot to win the championship.

Oakes 2 Nelson County 1

Post 36 Oakes made it to Sunday play after another strong showing from Jon Tyre on the mound. The future Valley City State University pitcher allowed just one run in the seventh inning, on four hits, and struck out another nine to earn the victory.

Oakes scored their runs in the third and sixth inning; both times as the result of errors; meaning the runs Jonathan Lund allowed were both unearned.

Michael Kelly earned the only extra-base hit of the game, with a one out double in the sixth.

Park River 14 Carrington 8

In the second game of the day, Park River established an early 5-0 lead on Carrington, and despite letting the defending State Champions back into the mix late, with five runs scored in the final two innings; Esten Beneda held his own to pick up the win, while striking out seven batters in the process.

Park River managed 18 hits in the game to Carrington’s eight, and there were a combined 21 men left on base between the two teams. Brady Smith took the loss for Carrington, lasting only the first inning, walking two and surrendering five runs on four hits.

The tournament concludes Sunday with a pair of games. Oakes and Park River will meet at 2 p.m., followed by the winner taking on Carrington for the State Championship at around 4:30 p.m. Both games can be heard on TED-FM 98.3 and NewsDakota.com, with the games featuring Oakes simulcast on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM.
