N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The opening day of the 2015 State Class B Babe Ruth Baseball Tournament started Friday at Mirror Lake Ballpark in Hettinger. Eight teams took the field in the double elimination tourney that runs for four days and possibly a fifth next Tuesday.
In the third game today, Carrington defeated Valley City 17-7 to move on the quarterfinals starting Saturday. Left fielder Drew Page was 3-for-3 at the plate, scoring three times and an RBI. Eight out nine batters had a hit for Carrington, Payton Smith reached base twice but did not get a hit. Bryce Nelson and Reese Huschka had two hits each for Valley City.
Carrington will play tomorrow at 7:30pm central time against the winner of Grafton and Hettinger/Scranton. Valley City will play tomorrow at 2:30pm central time against the loser of Grafton and Hettinger/Scranton. Pregame will be about 10 minutes before on KDAK in Carrington and KOVC in Valley City. KOVC will following all Valley City games throughout the tourney, and KDAK will be covering all Carrington games throughout the tourney.
