CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) The negotiating committee of the Valley City Education Association and the Valley City School district reached a tentative agreement today.

North Dakota United Facilitator Deanna Paulson said under the agreement the base for new teachers will increase, health insurance will remain the same for now but teachers will lose two personal days of leave.

Valley City School District Attorney Rachel Bruner-Kaufman said both sides reached a good compromise.

Valley City School district negotiator Joyce Braunagel said the health insurance agreement will remain the same for now but that the Health Insurance Committee will be looking at other options in the fall concerning future options that may benefit teachers and staff members in the school district.

The negotiating committee has been working for two months on base salary, health insurance and personal leave days and class load size.

The agreement still has to be ratified by a majority of the members of the Valley City Education Association and the Valley City School board this week.
