(NewsDakota.com) Four teams remain with a chance at a Class B Southeast Region Baseball Championship after Friday’s three games at Kindred.
In the first game, LaMoure Post 19 had two two-run home runs from Anthony Olson to hold off Galchutt 14-5. Similar to the day before, Post 19 scored seven runs in the sixth inning after Galchutt made a bit of a rally in the middle innings.
The second game, also a loser-out contest saw Enderlin Post 221 earn an 8-2 victory over Lidgerwood. The Railcars scored five of their runs in the final two innings, and Peter Lindgren earned a complete game win; with four hits allowed and three strikeouts.
The winners bracket game was one of the best in recent memory for those who were in attendance. #1 Kindred was down to their final strike against #2 Oakes when Tyson Tallakson hit a solo home run to tie the game at 3 in the top of the seventh inning. In the bottom part of the inning, Kaleb Sell was able to score via a dropped third strike to give Post 36 a berth in Sunday’s Championship Series with the 4-3 win. Oakes has defeated Post 117 all three times the teams have met this season.
Saturday’s play starts with a loser-out contest between LaMoure and Kindred at 2:30 p.m., followed by Oakes and Enderlin at 5 p.m. Should Oakes win, the winner of the 2:30 game would need to beat Oakes twice on Sunday to win the title. An Enderlin win would put the Railcars against the winner of the 2:30 game on Sunday, with the winner taking on Oakes for the Championship.
Coverage of both Saturday games can be heard on Q101.1 FM and NewsDakota.com, with the Oakes game on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com
