(NewsDakota.com) The first day of the 2015 North Dakota Class B Southeast Region Baseball Tournament was played on Wednesday at Kindred High School.

Oakes Post 36, who was the number two seed going into the tournament had an easy time against the #7 seed Lidgerwood winning 6-0. Bryce Meehl and Cole Kelly combined for a two-hitter. Meehl went the first six innings while striking out six, while Kelly pitched the seventh and only allowed a two-out walk. Kelly also had the best day statistically at the plate, going three for three with three hits and a run scored.

The #5 LaMoure Post 19/#4 Enderlin Post 221 game was not as lopsided, as 12 innings were needed to decide a winner. In the end, Spencer Gillund scored from third base on a walk-off wild pitch from Anthony Olson to give Enderlin the 2-1 victory. Both starting pitchers went very deep into the game; LaMoure’s Parker Stemen lasted 11 innings allowing seven hits, while Enderlin’s Gillund threw 10 innings and struck out nine.

In the other contests on Wednesday, #6 Galchutt shut out #3 Hankinson-Fairmoutn 2-0, and #1 Kindred defending their home field taking down #8 Lisbon 2-1.

Thursday’s play starts at noon with LaMoure and Lisbon to be followed by Hankinson-Fairmount and Lidgerwood at 2:30 in loser-out play. The winner’s bracket starts at 5 p.m. with Oakes and Galchutt and Kindred and Enderlin at 7:30.
